As a Carpenter at RVA Construction, you will play a crucial role in our construction projects. You'll be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures using wood, plywood, and other materials. Whether it's framing, finish carpentry, or installation of hardware, your work will be integral to the success of our projects. You will work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, ensuring that each project is completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully understand project requirements. 
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials to the required specifications.
  • Construct and repair building frameworks and structures such as stairways, doorframes, partitions, rafters, in-wall blocking, and more.
  • Install finish work such as trim, molding, cabinetry, doors, windows, and hardware.
  • Install doors, frames, hardware, and accessories such as closers, sweeps, etc.
  • Install bathroom accessories including paper towel dispensers, toilet paper dispensers, grab bars, mirrors, etc.
  • Inspect damaged frameworks or structures to assess the need for repair or replacement, performing necessary repairs to maintain structural integrity.
  • Follow all company and OSHA safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Properly use and maintain all tools and equipment.
  • Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Identify and address issues or obstacles during the construction process, offering solutions to ensure timely project completion.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized to ensure efficient work processes and a safe environment.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in carpentry, with a focus on both rough and finish work.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment. 
  • Strong understanding of carpentry techniques and methods.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or apprenticeship completion preferred.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification preferred; valid driver's license required.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to collaborate with team members and supervisors.

Compensation:

  • Full Time position
  • Hourly rate of $20 to $30 per hour, depending on experience.
